How can you do it?
Find a place in the church or on the church grounds that can be used for just the youth. You need to have this at church because we want our youth to think of church as a home. We chose our youth Sabbath School room. We painted the walls different bright colors (blue, green, & yellow). Then we bought different color king-size flat sheets to cover the couches in the youth room. We added floor lamps and candles. So during the program we turn off the main lights and the room feels very comfortable and relaxing.
We made the room look "cool". Because youth want to be where it's "cool".
We have a surround sound speaker system installed and a computer hooked up to the stereo and set the video out from the computer to a 30 inch TV. All of our music is on the computer in .mp3 format and we play it through the stereo system (CDs are a pain to handle). We use iTunes to play all our music and then we run a very cool visualizer within iTunes and show it through the TV. It adds another dimension of "coolness".
Our computer preference is a Macintosh because the setup is easy with it, but iTunes is also available on Windows so whatever you are comfortable with.
Have someone coordinate the food. Youth love to eat. We have a stash of snacks and drinks in the cabinets.
